MY ROLE
Established in 2020, the School of X was a new and rising organisation in the Design Education space in Singapore. As a Programme Management intern in a small but mighty team of four, I was primarily active in preparing, facilitating and executing design-thinking workshops for our participating communities.

The internship was ran across in-person and online platforms, and I worked with cross-functional teams in the running of training programmes, digital marketing campaigns and events. I also played a supportive role in the design and development of visual assets for use in social media and marketing campaigns.

My Community Bootcamps
'My Community Bootcamps' was one of the core projects (and my favourite) that I had worked on alongside the team. It is a series of co-design workshops conducted with three different communities across Singapore. In every community, we introduced the design process to tackle each of their unique design briefs.

Throughout my internship, I worked primarily behind the scenes with the School of X team to conduct co-design workshops with different communities. I helped with the proposal, coordination and delivery of these activities for a variety of stakeholders of different backgrounds.
It was an eye-opening and exciting experience to support and facilitate these co-design workshops, and to bring to light 'design thinking' to people who have not encountered this way of thought before.

This internship holds dear to my heart because it was for a cause that I was passionate about, and I could thrive it. The fast-pace environment was exciting and kept me on my toes, and it has taught me to think ahead yet adapt fast. The team was open, vibrant, fun-loving and always up for a challenge, and I was so proud to be a part of that.

I had loved the experience of being on the ground, engaging with communities and real-world problems. It was heartwarming to see the enthusiasm, kindness and devotion of people in all these social impact spaces. I had learnt so much - not just about being a designer and facilitator, but also about simply being human.
